Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

Financial Year Ending: 30 June 2025
(Section 54, Modern Slavery Act 2015)

1. Introduction
This statement is published in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the actions taken by Committed Care Housing to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our organisation during the financial year ending 30 June 2025.
Committed Care Housing recognises that modern slavery and human trafficking are serious criminal offences and represent a significant safeguarding risk. Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We operate a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of exploitation and are committed to ensuring that our organisation, workforce, and operational practices protect the rights, dignity, and welfare of all individuals. Our approach is underpinned by safeguarding principles, ethical leadership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

2. Our Organisation and Services
Committed Care Housing is a small, 24-hour staffed provider of supported accommodation for young people aged 16 and over. Our services include:
-
Supported Accommodation (16+)
-
Semi-Independent Living (16+)
We support young people who may be vulnerable due to age, life experience, or past trauma. We recognise that such vulnerabilities can increase the risk of exploitation, including criminal and sexual exploitation linked to modern slavery. Safeguarding is therefore central to all aspects of our service delivery.

3. Our Safeguarding-Led Commitment
Committed Care Housing is fully committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking across all areas of our organisation. We recognise our statutory and moral responsibility to safeguard young people, staff, and others who come into contact with our services. We promote a culture of vigilance, professional curiosity, and challenge, where safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and acted upon promptly. We expect all staff, contractors, and partners to uphold the same high standards of ethical behaviour and safeguarding practice. All contractual and employment arrangements include expectations aligned with good industry practice, safeguarding legislation, and anti-slavery principles. These arrangements require individuals and organisations working with us to operate lawfully, ethically, and in a way that protects individuals from harm and exploitation.

4. Policies, Procedures and Governance
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is embedded within a robust framework of policies, procedures, and governance arrangements that are regularly reviewed and monitored by senior leadership.
Key policies include:
-
Safe Recruitment and Selection Policy
-
Safeguarding Children and Young People Policies
-
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
-
Whistleblowing Policy
-
Staff Code of Conduct
These policies ensure:
-
Safe and transparent recruitment practices
-
Clear expectations for professional conduct
-
Effective reporting and escalation of concerns
-

All policies are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain compliant with legislation, reflect current guidance, and support effective safeguarding practice.

5. Training and Staff Awareness
We ensure that all staff are appropriately trained and supported to recognise and respond to the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes:
-
Mandatory safeguarding training for all staff, incorporating modern slavery, human trafficking, and exploitation
-
Clear guidance on identifying indicators of exploitation and understanding contextual safeguarding risks
-
Training on reporting concerns in line with safeguarding procedures, local authority protocols, and statutory guidance
Training is refreshed regularly, and staff understanding is reinforced through supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development. This ensures safeguarding remains active, understood, and consistently applied in practice.

6. Measuring Effectiveness and Monitoring
We monitor the effectiveness of our approach to preventing modern slavery through proportionate and relevant assurance measures, including:
-
Monitoring and reviewing safeguarding concerns and incident records
-
No identified or substantiated cases of modern slavery or human trafficking during the reporting period
-
Regular audits and reviews of policies, recruitment practices, and staff training compliance
-
Oversight by senior leadership to ensure safeguarding arrangements remain effective
Learning from safeguarding practice, external guidance, and sector developments is used to strengthen our approach and inform continuous improvement.

7. Continuous Improvement and Ongoing Commitment
Committed Care Housing is committed to continuous improvement in safeguarding and anti-slavery practice. We will continue to:
-
Review and strengthen policies and procedures
-
Maintain robust recruitment and workforce safeguards
-
Promote a strong safeguarding culture across the organisation
-
Work collaboratively with local authorities, professionals, and partner agencies
Safeguarding, human rights, and the prevention of exploitation remain integral to how we operate and how we support young people to live safely and develop independence.
